With Miguel Ángel Russo on the verge of returning as head coach, Boca Juniors are already working behind the scenes to secure reinforcements ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. According to TyC Sports, one of the names gaining traction in Ezeiza is Colombian winger Marino Hinestroza, currently playing for Atlético Nacional.

Hinestroza, 22, has made 47 appearances since joining the Medellín-based club in 2024, tallying eight goals and eight assists, mostly as a right winger. His strong performances earned him a call-up to the Colombian national team for World Cup qualifiers earlier this year, under coach Néstor Lorenzo. With stints at Pachuca and Columbus Crew, the young attacker is seen as a versatile and high-upside target.

Under contract until December 2027, Hinestroza’s current market value is estimated at $4 million, but Colombian sources suggest Atlético Nacional may ask for nearly double. While Boca have yet to submit a formal bid, the player is firmly on the club’s radar. Another option being considered for the same position is Jhon Emerson Córdoba of Millonarios, reportedly a more affordable alternative.

Boca’s technical staff plans to bring in at least three new players: a central defender (Marco Pellegrino is under review), a midfielder (with Aníbal Moreno at the top of their wish list despite a hefty price tag), and a forward. The final 35-man squad for the Club World Cup must be submitted to FIFA by June 10, with room for injury-related changes until July 3. With the clock ticking, Boca’s leadership is keen to provide Russo with a roster ready for the international stage.
