Boca loses a key player: Williams Alarcón undergoes surgery imago

Williams Alarcón, midfielder for Boca Juniors, suffered a serious injury to his right knee during the first half of the match against Defensa y Justicia in the Argentine Professional League. The Chilean, in his attempt to press the opponent's exit, stepped awkwardly and suffered a meniscus tear. Due to the pain, Alarcón had to be substituted. After medical examinations, the severity of the injury was confirmed and today the player underwent surgery.

The Chilean midfielder expressed his optimism after the surgical procedure.

"Everything went well, thank God, and I'm already thinking about recovering as soon as possible. I thank the fans for their support," he said in statements to the television channel TyC Sports.

Alarcón, who was not called up for the last round of South American Qualifiers with the Chilean national team, stated that the estimated recovery time is between a month and a half to two months. This period of absence will keep him out for the remainder of the Apertura Tournament, although he was positive about the team's good performance.

Finally, Alarcón said he was in good spirits.

"If Boca wins, everyone is happy. We are content, with our heads held high," said the 24-year-old midfielder.

With luck, he will be able to return to the field for the final stretch of the local championship, in which Boca is leading Zone A.
