Black Stars Suffer Second Straight Defeat on Asian Tour, Coach Addo Demands Improvement Ahead of World Cup
The Black Stars of Ghana are not achieving the results they hoped for on their Asian tour after suffering another defeat to South Korea in their recent game. They had lost 2-0 to Japan last Friday. This accumulation of results has led the head coach of the team, Otto Addo, to voice his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, stressing the need for them to improve before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“For the World Cup, there are still some months to go for us to improve. Surely also in all aspects, in pressing and creating chances, but also not allowing chances, there's still room to improve, especially for Ghana,” Addo said in his post-match interview.
South Korea secured a 63rd-minute breakthrough when Lee Tae-Seok headed in Lee Kang-In's cross. Ghana's goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, later saved Hwang Hee-Chan's penalty to keep the score 1-0. While Ghana had two goals disallowed for offside (from Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey), Otto Addo's team could not find an equaliser despite a late push.
