Bizarre incident: former England international run over by a turf-laying machine before a match. VIDEO
Former England international Andros Townsend was involved in an unfortunate incident during the warm-up before the Thai league match between PT Prachuap and Pattani. The footballer suffered an injury, but serious consequences were avoided. A turf-laying machine literally ran over him.
Following the incident, Townsend was left out of the starting lineup and spent virtually the entire match on the bench. The Englishman came on only in stoppage time, in the 90+3rd minute. By then, PT Prachuap were already comfortably ahead, and the match ended in a 3-0 victory for the team.

It should be noted that 35-year-old Townsend is a Tottenham academy graduate, having represented the club for several seasons. In England, the winger also played for Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Everton and Luton, while spending loan spells at several clubs, including QPR and Leeds. He made 13 appearances for England and scored three goals.
In 2024, Townsend moved to Turkey, where he played for Antalyaspor before continuing his career in Thailand. In August 2026, he signed a contract with PT Prachuap.
