Big Shock for India as New Zealand Beat India by 87 Runs in Fourth T20I, Glenn Phillips Hits Century
New Zealand stunned India with an emphatic 87-run victory in the fourth T20 International at Auckland, with Glenn Phillips producing a sensational century to lead the hosts to a record-breaking total.
Batting first, New Zealand piled up 259 for seven in 20 overs, setting India a daunting target of 260 runs. Phillips was the star of the innings, smashing 107 off just 49 balls, including six fours and 10 sixes.
Michael Bracewell provided excellent support with a quickfire 65 from 25 deliveries, as the pair added 115 runs off 41 balls for the fifth wicket. Finn Allen also contributed 31 runs, while Daryl Mitchell scored 24.
India's bowlers struggled to contain the hosts, with Nitish Kumar Reddy conceding 64 runs in four overs. Mayank Yadav claimed three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Prince Yadav took one each.
Chasing 260, India failed to build momentum and were restricted to 172 runs. Prince Yadav top-scored with 49, while Axar Patel added 43, but their efforts were not enough to prevent a heavy defeat.
New Zealand smashed 20 sixes in their innings, with Phillips and Bracewell hitting 16 between them. Their explosive partnership proved decisive as the Black Caps handed India a convincing 87-run defeat.
