The Uruguay national team has unveiled its final squad for the 2026 World Cup, with the biggest shock being the omission of legendary forward Luis Suárez.
The 38-year-old striker did not make the list of 26 players who will represent La Celeste at the world’s biggest tournament. As a result, one of the greatest players in Uruguayan football history will miss the competition that many expected would be the last chapter of his international career.

For years, Suárez was the leader of the national team and remains Uruguay’s all-time top scorer. However, the coaching staff has opted to put their faith in a new generation of players.
