Benni McCarthy Aims to Awaken Kenya’s Football Potential!

Contrary to popular belief, newly appointed Kenya national team coach Benni McCarthy's revealed that he wasn't widely sought after following his coaching spell at Manchester United.

The South African football icon who was recently unveiled as Kenya’s new coach, admitted that while he had discussions with few Major League Soccer MLS clubs, he was far from being in high demand.

McCarthy’s Vision for Kenya

Speaking to the Kenya football media department, as reported by Daily Maverick, McCarthy outlined his ambition to elevate Kenya’s status in african football.

“I wouldn't say I was in demand. I did have a few job interviews for jobs where you go with other coaches, mostly with MLS clubs in the US. Then this (Kenya job) came back. It’s sleeping giant in my eyes. I looked at the project and saw country with great potential. They've some really talented young players who play abroad. With the right mindset and mentality, we can do something special for the team.” McCarthy stated.
