Benfica is working on bringing back two of its academy graduates
After a less successful previous season, Lisbon's Benfica is looking for ways to strengthen its squad. The president of the Portuguese club, Rui Costa, has stated that the club is in talks to bring back forward João Félix, who is currently with Atlético, and midfielder Renato Sanches from French side PSG.
"The negotiations are ongoing, but it is not advisable to discuss them publicly as it doesn't help," Costa noted.
Félix was with Benfica from 2015 to 2019 before being sold to Atlético for 127 million euros. He spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he performed well.
Sanches, also a Benfica academy product, moved to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016 for 35 million euros. Last season, he was also on loan, playing for Roma.
Earlier, it was reported that the Portuguese giants had agreed to extend the contract with Ángel Di María.
