Ben Tete Dzakpa’s exit from Étoile Filante de Lomé has caused a lot of discussion after he resigned following the team’s 3-2 loss to Doumbé de Mango in the third match of the Togolese championship. The team was ahead 2-0 at halftime but fell apart in the second half, which seems to have led to Dzakpa’s decision to quit. However, the club has not officially announced his resignation on its social media, and Dzakpa himself has not made any public statements.
Dzakpa’s resignation happened after his contract ended on December 31. Some believe the loss to Doumbé was the main reason, while others think there were earlier signs of trouble, like his decision to make six substitutions during the 1-1 draw against Espoir de Tsévié, which caused some controversy.
The club helped Dzakpa get his CAF A license, and he now appears ready to hunt for fresh chances. Séverin Kpakpo-Koumi, a former AS Binah coach, has been named the new manager in his place. Étoile Filante will be led by Kpakpo-Koumi beginning with their upcoming encounter on Sunday, January 5 against ASKO. As the team embarks on a new chapter under its new coach, supporters and club officials are waiting for clarification on Dzakpa's departure's reasons.
