Cristian Lema could be on his way out of Boca Juniors, with Córdoba-based club Belgrano expressing interest in re-signing the veteran defender, Olé reported. Lema, 35, has not played a single minute in 2025 due to a lingering ankle injury and a lack of squad rotation.

Belgrano officials reportedly reached out to Boca’s Football Council to inquire about conditions for a potential transfer. While no formal offer has been made, Boca would be open to letting Lema go before the FIFA Club World Cup, especially with his contract expiring in December.

Lema previously made over 100 appearances for Belgrano and remains a popular figure in the club's history. A return to Alberdi could be a natural fit. For Boca, his departure would also clear space to pursue new center-backs — with Marco Pellegrino as a top target — amid concerns over Ayrton Costa, who is facing visa issues ahead of the trip to the United States.

A transfer in June would align with Boca’s broader squad overhaul heading into a decisive second half of the year.
