Sebastián Beccacece has firmly denied any talks with the Chilean national team and reaffirmed his commitment to Ecuador. In an interview with DirecTV Sports, the head coach of “La Tri” dismissed social media speculation and emphasized the value of the connection he has built with his players as Ecuador continues its preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

“Honestly, social media is wild these days. But if you look at my career, I’ve always honored my contracts. I’ve always kept my word, and that matters to me,” Beccacece stated, ending speculation that he could replace Ricardo Gareca as Chile’s manager. The Argentine remains focused on Ecuador’s progress in the Club World Cup, where several of his players are thriving against elite global competition.

“This tournament is an invaluable opportunity. It helps us observe the team in an international environment, with different styles and high demands. It gives us key information ahead of what’s coming,” he said. Beccacece stressed that this competition is not just about tactics but about strengthening bonds. “The best part is being with the players, listening, sharing. There's genuine connection and mutual trust,” he added.

The coach highlighted the performances of William Pacho, Ecuador’s starting center back and standout at PSG. “He’s always solid—never below an eight out of ten. He has the composure of a veteran and the energy of a debutant. That combination is remarkable,” he praised.

He also commended Moisés Caicedo’s versatility. “What Moi does is vital. He’s played as a full-back, central midfielder, and interior. I agree with Maresca—being able to adapt is a huge asset.”

As Ecuador rides a wave of optimism after securing its World Cup spot, Beccacece remains focused and grounded. Despite external noise, he is fully committed to guiding “La Tri” toward a strong showing in 2026, continuing a project that, for him, still has much to give.
