The BBC has announced the release of a two-part documentary titled Sir Alex, dedicated to legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The film will cover the entirety of the Scotsman’s managerial career, beginning with his success at Aberdeen, where he led the club to a stunning victory in the 1983 European Cup Winners’ Cup. It will also highlight Ferguson’s iconic Champions League triumphs with Manchester United in the 1999 and 2008 seasons.
"There are few more pivotal people in the history of British sport than Sir Alex Ferguson. So it is a honour for us to tell his story," said BBC Sports Director Alex Kay-Jelski.
The documentary will feature interviews with Ferguson’s former players who won the Champions League under his leadership, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jaap Stam, Dwight Yorke, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Michael Carrick.
The series is set to air on January 1 and 2 on BBC iPlayer, BBC Scotland, and BBC One.
Additionally, BBC Sounds will release a bonus podcast episode, Sporting Giants: Sir Alex Ferguson, featuring an exclusive interview with Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish. Dalglish will share insights into his famous rivalry with Ferguson’s Manchester United.
