Bayern Munich will not extend the contract of their latest defender
Bayern Munich has decided not to extend the contract with their full-back Alphonso Davies after prolonged negotiations. According to Florian Plettenberg, discussions were ongoing for some time, but no agreement was reached. Bayern improved their offer, yet Davies still demanded €20 million per year. The club's management was not willing to meet this demand, thus ending negotiations.
The current contract runs until next June, allowing Davies to leave the club as a free agent. Bayern had previously offered Davies a new contract several times with a salary of €13-14 million per year, including bonuses. It appears the club is prepared to increase their offer, but not to the €20 million per year that Davies desired.
In the recently concluded season, the Canadian international played 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 12 assists.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid continues to work on securing the transfer of Bayern Munich's left-back Alphonso Davies.
