Bayern and Liverpool to battle for Leipzig defender

Europe’s elite clubs are eager to snap up the talented Frenchman.
Details: According to FootMercato, 22-year-old RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba has become a target for both Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
Reports indicate that both clubs are determined and unwilling to back down in offering superior contract terms to the young player. For now, Leipzig has received unofficial inquiries from Bayern and Liverpool representatives, but official negotiations could kick off at any moment.
RB Leipzig has set a release clause for the player at €90 million. However, if an official offer comes in for a lower amount, the club may reconsider that clause.
Castello made the switch to the Bundesliga in 2023 from Lyon—Leipzig’s management paid €30 million for the promising Frenchman at the time.
Last season, Lukeba featured in 31 matches for the Red Bulls but didn’t register any goal contributions. The defender is under contract until 2029, and his current market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at €40 million.
