Former world champion Tony Bellew has shared his thoughts on a potential rematch between Derek Chisora and Oleksandr Usyk in what could be the Briton’s farewell fight. However, the boxing legend isn't convinced that such a bout will take place.
Quote. "I just don't think this fight offers anything to Usyk. I believe he's the boss of the heavyweight division now, so there's nothing at stake for him. I can't see Usyk going back to something he's already done. He's not the type to do rematches after fights where he won comfortably—unless there's huge financial gain. Honestly, I just can't see this fight happening.
I do believe Derek deserves one last big fight before he rides off into the sunset—his 50th time stepping into the ring. I don’t know who I’d like to see him face. There are so many options. Look, he even called out his own friend. At one point, this madman said he wanted to fight me. I'm probably the closest person to him in boxing. Honestly, I just want him to finish with a fight that isn’t too tough," Bellew told talkSPORT Boxing.
Reminder. In October 2020, Usyk defeated Chisora via unanimous decision.
Previously, Usyk announced that he would have two more fights before retiring. Chisora, who recently defeated Otto Wallin, is also set to have a farewell bout before leaving the sport.
