Barcelona's sporting director has commented on the search for Xavi's successor

Barcelona will get a new head coach in the summer as current Catalan coach Xavi will leave the team at the end of the season, but that coach still needs to be found.

On how the search for Xavi's successor is progressing, Barcelona sporting director Deco told Sport, who said that candidates depend on many factors:

"To bring in a coach, we need to know what we need and what economic conditions we have, what we can do. We have to consider the players, their contracts. The name of the coach depends on a lot of things, and there are not many good coaches on the market. Of course there will be some moves but we will make the right decision with what we have."

Deco also commented on the fact that Barcelona allegedly have German specialists such as Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann and Hans-Dieter Flick on their pencil:

"I've never worked with a German coach... I've had a Dutch coach, a Portuguese coach, a Brazilian coach. If a coach has only worked in his own country, he may not know foreign football, but nationality is not the most important thing."

In addition to the Germans, Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi has been linked with Barcelona in recent times, but the financial demands of the Seagulls are few and far between for the Blaugrana.
