Barcelona's key defender is injured and will miss about two months
Barcelona has been grappling with a series of injuries recently. Ronald Araújo is sidelined until December due to a hamstring issue sustained while playing for Uruguay in the Copa América. Following this, Pedri and Ansu Fati were also forced to miss several weeks. However, the Catalan club's troubles don't end there.
According to Relevo, Andreas Christensen has now suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for the next two months. It was previously known that the Danish defender had been struggling with tendinitis over the summer, but it remains unclear whether this is the cause of his current absence.
Due to these injuries, Xavi Hernández has limited options for the right-back position. In Christensen's place, he might turn to Pau Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, or Eric García. Additionally, Jules Koundé, who has frequently played on the right in recent seasons, could also fill the role.
Christensen's injury also puts an end to the transfer rumors surrounding him. Previously, Barcelona had considered selling Christensen to free up space for registering new players. The defender, however, expressed his desire to stay with the team, and his injury now rules out any potential transfer this summer.
