Following Barcelona's victory over Napoli (3:1), head coach Xavi responded emphatically to all the criticism directed towards his team throughout the season.

"I said we would take a step forward with my decision to go in the summer," said Xavi, who earlier this year announced that he will step down at the end of the season.

People didn't believe me; I was going to lose the dressing room. We have received unfair criticism. There has been too much pressure on the players: ultimatums, life or death.

I even read that we were the joke of the Champions League. And now what?"

This advancement to the Champions League quarterfinals marks Barcelona's first since the 2019/20 season.

Yesterday, Barcelona also set a record in the tournament's playoff history by fielding two players under the age of 17 in the starting lineup.
