Barcelona will receive millions of euros in compensation for Gavi's injury

Barcelona may receive monetary compensation after team midfielder Gavi was seriously injured in a match for the Spanish national team.

As you know, the 19-year-old Spanish footballer was injured in the qualifying match for the European Championship 2024 between the national teams of Spain and Georgia. The meeting ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of the Spaniards, and the midfielder was replaced already in the 26th minute of the meeting.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club may receive compensation from the International Football Federation (FIFA). In particular, the team can transfer from 3 to 4.3 million euros.

This amount will be paid to Barcelona under the club protection program. Compensation will be accrued 28 days after the player's injury and will depend on his fixed salary.

Interestingly, according to the regulations, the amount of compensation cannot exceed 7.5 million euros per year or 20,548 euros per day. Calculations of the amount of compensation to Barcelona will be carried out from December 16.

It is reasonable to mention that Gavi could miss six to eight months due to the injury. Thus, the amount of compensation from FIFA could range from 3,082,200 to 4,315,080 euros.
