Barcelona will provide support for the player who suffered a serious injury
Barcelona lost young midfielder Marc Bernal for an extended period of time in the third round of La Liga, but the Catalan club are determined not to abandon their talent, but to support him.
The backing, as reported by Diario Sport, is that Barcelona will unilaterally activate the clause to automatically extend the 17-year-old's contract by three years, until June 2029.
Previously, for this to happen, Bernal needed to fulfil a number of clauses that were spelt out in the current contract that the player signed this summer. But despite the fact that he failed to fulfil them, Barcelona were happy with the stretch he showed, hence they decided to activate the extension themselves.
This also shows the trust that Bernal is shown not only by the management, but also by the Blaugrana head coach Hansi Flick.
