Barcelona will not receive any compensation for the departure of their coach

On Saturday, it was announced that Rafa Márquez will take up the position of assistant coach for the Mexican national team, where he will work alongside Javier Aguirre, who left his role as Mallorca's head coach at the end of last season.

Since the summer of 2022, Márquez has been coaching Barça Atlètic, and at the end of last month, it was announced that his contract was extended until 2025. However, according to MD, this extension has not yet been signed.

The contract with Márquez was announced while the Mexican coach was on vacation. It was planned that he would sign the contract upon his return to the club before the start of Barça Atlètic's preseason training, which begins on Monday.

This means that Barcelona will not receive any compensation from the Mexican Football Association, as Márquez is technically a free agent (his previous contract ended on June 30). These funds would have been very useful in the current situation, but it appears they will not be forthcoming.
