Barcelona to sell talented defender to Ligue 1 club

Barcelona continues to actively offload players to reduce their wage bill and create space to register new signings.

The latest player to depart is young central defender Mikayil Faye. According to Fabrizio Romano, Faye is set to join Rennes on a permanent transfer.

Faye moves to Rennes for €12 million, with a 25% sell-on clause included for Barcelona on his next transfer. Crucially, Barcelona retains a first-option buy-back clause set at €35 million.

Faye joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023 from the modest Croatian club Kustosija for €1.5 million. Last season, he played for Barça Atlètic, where he was one of the standout performers.
