Currently, the medical staff has reiterated their advice for the Dutchman to proceed with surgery. However, De Jong remains opposed to the procedure.

This disagreement has led the club's leadership to consider ending their collaboration with the midfielder. Despite this, head coach Hansi Flick opposes the idea. Nevertheless, the club is reportedly open to selling the player.
