Barcelona president hopes to hold a Lionel Messi tribute match at the renovated Camp Nou
As Barcelona prepare for the grand reopening of the revamped Camp Nou, club president Joan Laporta revealed his dream for the future.
Details: On Friday, November 7, Laporta visited the renovated stadium and stated that it would be wonderful to see Messi play there once again.
Quote: “It would be a magnificent way to inaugurate the new Camp Nou — honouring Leo Messi in front of a packed stadium. I would be delighted to organise a tribute match for Leo,” said Joan Laporta.
The game with Bruges ended in a 3:3 draw. It wasn’t the only controversial incident of the night — the referees had earlier overturned a penalty awarded against Barcelona.
Reminder: Barcelona have now conceded at least once in nine consecutive matches — their second-worst defensive run in the past 12 years. The last time they endured a longer streak was in 2013, when they conceded in 13 straight games.
