Barcelona's President Joan Laporta has expressed his desire to retain head coach Xavi for the upcoming season.

"Xavi insists on saying he won't change his mind and he's gonna leave in June but... we will see. I still hope to keep Xavi next season, but it's only up to him", – Laporta said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Earlier reports indicated that Xavi is indeed considering the possibility of staying with the team beyond the summer, but three conditions must be met for this to happen. One of them is winning the Champions League.

It's worth noting that Xavi announced his departure from Barcelona after the defeat against Villarreal (3-5) in the 22nd round of La Liga. Interestingly, Barcelona hasn't suffered a single defeat in all competitions since that announcement.

After 29 rounds, Barcelona occupies the second place in La Liga, trailing behind Real Madrid by 8 points. In the Champions League, the Catalan side eliminated Napoli in the round of 16 and will face PSG in the quarter-finals.
