Barcelona must drop Szczesny for ter Stegen to play in the Champions League
Barcelona's main goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is close to returning to action after an injury, and he has a chance to play in the Champions League. But for this to happen, the club must meet one condition.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, to include ter Stegen in the squad for the remainder of the Champions League, the club will need to unregister Wojciech Szczesny, who has become the mainstay this season.
It is noted that Barcelona is currently leaning towards having the Polish goalkeeper play in the main lineup for the rest of the season, with ter Stegen potentially getting playing time in the final rounds of La Liga.
This means that if Barcelona reaches the Champions League semi-finals, they will not exclude Szczesny from the roster.
Ter Stegen has resumed field training, but his return to the La Liga match squad is not expected before the end of April.
Reminder: Yesterday it was revealed that Hansi Flick blocked Luis Diaz's transfer from Liverpool due to his age.
