Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves may be sent back to prison as the victim in his case is demanding a harsher sentence, reports Sportowe Fakty.
Alves was previously sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 31, 2022. After 14 months in custody, he was released on bail set at €1 million.
Now, the victim’s lawyers have filed an appeal seeking a stricter punishment for the Brazilian. The Supreme Court’s ruling is expected in the coming weeks, and if the appeal is upheld, Alves could be sent back behind bars.
As part of his current restrictions, Alves has had both his Brazilian and Spanish passports confiscated and is banned from leaving the country. He is also required to report to the court weekly and is prohibited from approaching or contacting the victim in any way.
Additionally, the Supreme Court recently rejected a request from Alves’ defense team to conduct a new psychological evaluation of the victim.
