Barcelona is leading the race against Manchester City and Roma for the signing of the Belgian talent

Barcelona is on the verge of signing Belgian talent Jorthy Mokio.

According to Relevo, the Blaugrana have made an offer to the young defender from Gent and are awaiting a response. The only requirement to finalize the deal is the green light from the player's family.

The 16-year-old center-back has attracted interest from several top European clubs this summer. Despite his young age, he has already made appearances for Gent's first team.

The Catalan club is devising a development plan for Mokio and will provide him with opportunities, similar to players like Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Hector Fort, and Pau Cubarsi.

Mokio is considered one of the most promising players of his generation, with Roma and Manchester City also vying for his signature. However, if his family accepts Barcelona's offer, the player will join Barcelona Athletic this summer.

Earlier, Barcelona extended the contract of a 17-year-old wonderkid.
