Barcelona held talks with Michel's agent. He is the most likely successor to Xavi

Barcelona seems serious about bringing Girona's manager, Michel, to the helm. He is considered the most probable replacement for Xavi if the club decides on a change in leadership.

According to reputable Spanish journalist Francois Gallardo, representatives from Blaugrana have met thrice since October with the Girona manager's agent. Michel might lead Barcelona as soon as next summer, commencing from the 2024/2025 season.

Previously, reports emerged of Barcelona's board pondering the wisdom of retaining Xavi as head coach, considering the team's unsatisfactory performances. This consideration comes in light of the club's recent results.

Recall that after 16 fixtures in the Spanish championship, Barcelona holds third place with 34 points. The Catalan club trails the leading Girona by seven points.

In their recent match, Michel's Girona convincingly triumphed over Blaugrana with a score of 4-2. This victory marked a historic first for the modest club in the Catalan derby.

Michel has been at Girona's helm since July 2021. Prior to this, the 48-year-old managed Rayo Vallecano, leading them to La Liga, and also had a stint with Huesca.
