Recently, Lionel Messi extended his contract with Inter Miami, but this doesn't rule out a possible return to Barcelona—a topic that has been fueling rumors for quite some time. According to El Nacional, his new deal features a special clause.

It's reported that the Argentine superstar reached an agreement with David Beckham allowing him to go out on loan as early as January, in order to maintain top competitive form ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Naturally, under such circumstances, Camp Nou would be Leo's preferred destination, but Barcelona's management has all but dismissed the idea of Messi making a short-term comeback as a player.

Against this backdrop, an alternative scenario is gaining traction. Messi could return to Barcelona after ending his playing career—not as a footballer, but as a club executive. The possibility of him taking up a role within the club’s structure, or even in management, is being considered, similar to the paths taken by Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal in the past.
