Barcelona has announced the signing of a player from the NBA

The basketball club Barcelona has officially announced the signing of NBA player Ricky Rubio until the end of the current season.

In August 2023, the 33-year-old Spanish basketball player paused his career to focus on his mental well-being. In January, he reached an agreement with Cleveland for the buyout of his contract and subsequently resumed training with Barcelona. Notably, Rubio previously played for the Catalan team from 2009 to 2011.

It was reported that Rubio would not have contractual obligations to play, and both parties could unilaterally terminate the agreement. Barcelona currently holds the third position in the regular season of the Spanish championship and ranks second in the EuroLeague.

Ricky Rubio plays as a point guard. He was selected in the 2009 NBA Draft as the fifth overall pick. A two-time Olympic medalist (2008 and 2016), a world champion (2019), and a two-time European champion (2009 and 2011) with the national team.
