Barcelona claim 28th league title in history, crowned champions of Spain for the 2024/25 season

On Thursday, May 15, Barcelona and Espanyol squared off in the Catalan derby—a decisive clash for the Blaugrana.

A victory would allow the team to secure the league title ahead of schedule, and the Catalans were clearly determined to seal the deal in this very match, leaving nothing to chance. Barcelona rose to the occasion against their archrivals.

The championship goal was scored by Barcelona's young talent Lamine Yamal. In the 53rd minute, he made a superb strike from outside the box and thus brought his team the gold medals.

In the final minutes, Firmin Lopez doubled the lead and Lamine Yamal scored. Thus, he took part in two of the team's winning goals.

This marks Barcelona's 28th league title in club history. The team now sits at 85 points after 36 rounds. This season, the Catalans have also lifted the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
