Barcelona are ready to offer a new contract to their captain

Much has been said recently that Barcelona have no intention of extending their partnership with defender and captain Sergi Roberto after Xavi's move away, but it seems that the Camp Nou have changed from anger to mercy towards their player.

The club intend to initiate talks with the defender's agent Jose Maria Orobit, but as Marca emphasise, no concrete offer will be made yet, only preliminary talks. When they will happen remains a mystery for now.

Earlier we reported that Roberto will leave Barcelona in the summer as a free agent, as his current agreement runs until 30 June 2024, and it was also known about an invitation from Saudi Arabia, which expressed interest in the wing-back, but the latter dropped it for political reasons.
