Bara Sapoko Ndiaye talks about settling in at Bayern Munich and shares his ambitions
The young Senegalese player reveals that his early days were marked by some apprehension, which has faded over time.
Having joined Bayern Munich this winter from the Gambino Stars Africa academy, Bara Sapoko Ndiaye made his Bundesliga debut on matchday 29 against St Pauli. Since joining the German club, he has made progress thanks to the guidance of his coach Vincent Kompany, who encourages him to persevere. He has also settled in the dressing room thanks to the presence of French-speaking players. But the young Senegalese player wants to play at the highest level of football whilst representing Senegal.
The first time I was there, I was a bit nervous, but now things are getting better and better. He (Vincent Kompany) told me to keep working hard. That’s what makes the difference. They’re very nice. Upamecano is like a brother to me. Lots of them speak French, so it’s not difficult for me to get on with them. I want to play football at the highest level, but also play for Senegal and help my team win.
