Balotelli will terminate his contract with Genoa but will remain in Serie A

Mario Balotelli may terminate his contract with Genoa but is expected to continue playing in Serie A. The 34-year-old striker, a former Italy international, returned to his home country on October 28, 2024, as a free agent after his contract with Turkish club Adana Demirspor expired.

Details: When Balotelli joined Genoa, the team was managed by Alberto Gilardino, but he was soon replaced by Patrick Vieira, who had previously worked with Balotelli. Since then, Super Mario has only appeared in six matches, exclusively as a substitute, playing a total of just 56 minutes.

Frustrated with his limited role, Balotelli is reportedly in talks with Genoa to mutually terminate his contract, according to Calciomercato.com. If an agreement is reached, he will once again become a free agent.

Note: One of the potential destinations for Balotelli is Serie A club Monza, where he previously played from December 2020 to July 2021, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 14 matches.

Serie B side Bari has also expressed interest and made an offer, but Balotelli is determined to remain in the top division.
