Bale is still awaited at Wrexham. Could the legendary Welshman resume his career?
This summer, former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale might return to football as the Welsh club Wrexham remains hopeful of convincing the legendary player to resume his career.
After achieving his long-awaited goal of playing in the World Cup, the 34-year-old decided to retire from professional football at the beginning of 2023.
Initially, he signed a 12-month contract with MLS club Los Angeles in June 2022, with an option to extend until 2024. However, Bale ultimately decided against extending and chose to end his career.
During his remarkable career at Real Madrid, Bale won three La Liga titles and five Champions League trophies. The Welshman spent eight years in Madrid following his transfer from Tottenham for £85 million.
Although Bale is currently focused on golf, he might be interested in a new project, especially considering Wrexham's ambitions after securing promotion to League One last season. Attracting Bale would require a substantial financial offer, but The Athletic hints that McElhenney (one of the club's co-owners) is still pushing for the deal.
