Further medical tests carried out following his injury on 18 October have revealed a complete rupture of the right biceps femoris tendon for the Moroccan midfielder.

Initially expected to be out for two to three months, the Panathinaikos player is now set to be sidelined for much longer. His return to action is now not expected until the end of March 2027.

Azzedine Ounahi sustained a thigh injury on 18 October during Panathinaikos’s 5–1 victory over Asteras in the Greek league. Initial estimates suggested he would be out for a few months, but further tests revealed a more serious injury.

This complete rupture of the right biceps femoris tendon requires surgery, according to reports. The Moroccan midfielder will then have to undergo a period of rehabilitation before he can consider a return to action.

Ounahi will therefore have to wait until the end of March 2027 to return to competitive action, a major blow for both the player and his club. It is also a major blow for Morocco, which will be unable to count on its midfielder for several months.
