Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre is expected to spend around a month on the sidelines after suffering a grade 4 tear in his right hamstring during the Ranji Trophy clash against Chandigarh on Sunday.

Mhatre, who had only recently returned from a six-month injury layoff caused by a left hamstring problem, sustained the latest injury while opening the batting for Mumbai. Despite struggling with the injury, he continued his innings and scored 48 runs as Mumbai went on to secure an innings victory.

Before his return, the youngster spent three months undergoing rehabilitation at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Mumbai are expected to bring in 23-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi as a replacement. Raghuvanshi has been in impressive form in the Under-23 tournament, recently scoring two double-centuries of 201 and 203.

The Mumbai coach confirmed that Mhatre would likely miss the team's next few matches, given the severity of the injury.

"It seems that he will not be with the team for some time now," the Mumbai coach said after the game. "The way he was struggling, limping in the match, it does not look like he would be ready for the next two or three games.
