Awaziem Strikes Late as Nantes Snatch Draw Against Lorient

Chidozie Awaziem rescued Nantes with a dramatic stoppage-time goal to secure a 1-1 draw against Lorient in their Ligue 1 clash on Sunday. The Nigerian defender had a difficult start, as he put the ball into his own net in first-half added time. Lorient held the lead until the closing moments, when Awaziem made amends by scoring his first goal in 12 league appearances to earn Nantes a vital point.

The draw leaves Nantes in 15th place with 11 points in the 18-team table.

Awaziem recently featured for the Super Eagles during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs in Morocco. He came on as a substitute in the games against Gabon and DR Congo and provided the assist for Victor Osimhen’s fourth goal in the 4-1 win over Gabon.
