Atlético Madrid is close to signing a defender from the Spanish national team

Atlético Madrid is close to the transfer of a defender from the Spanish national team. The club has made significant progress in negotiations with Real Sociedad regarding the transfer of central defender Roben Le Normand. Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that talks between the clubs are ongoing, and the personal terms of the contract with the 27-year-old player have already been agreed upon.
Le Normand could become Atlético's first summer transfer. Additionally, as part of this deal, the Madrid club may send their left-back Javi Galán to Real Sociedad, who spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan with the Basques.
Atlético is prepared to pay around 30 million euros plus bonuses for Le Normand, although the Transfermarkt portal values the player at 40 million euros.
It is worth noting that Diego Simeone's team may soon lose three central defenders: Mario Hermoso, Gabriel Paulista, and Stefan Savic. Savic's contract is still valid for one more season, but the Madrid club has agreed to the player's request for an early termination of the contract. Hermoso is close to a move to Napoli.
