Atlético is contemplating several players from Girona for reinforcement
Atlético Madrid is considering four players from Girona for reinforcement, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Sources indicate that the "mattress makers" have shown interest in defenders Arnau Martínez and David López, midfielder Aleix García, and forward Artem Dovbyk, on whom the Madrid team is particularly focused. Atlético is exploring the possibility of signing the Ukrainian striker, who has received positive reviews and demonstrated impressive performances.
Currently, Girona is unwilling to sell the striker in the winter, considering him a key player in coach Míchel Sánchez's squad. The club is focused on strengthening the team in January. Therefore, Atlético is evaluating Dovbyk's candidacy for the next season and understands that the negotiation process will be challenging. Girona holds 75% of the rights to the 26-year-old player, with the remaining 25% belonging to Dovbyk's previous club, the Ukrainian Dnipro-1.
It is worth recalling that on August 6, 2023, Artem Dovbyk signed a 5-year contract with the Spanish club Girona. The club paid seven million euros for the Ukrainian striker, setting a transfer record for Girona. Transfermarkt values Dovbyk at 28 million euros.
