A fatal incident marred the aftermath of Atlético Nacional's Copa Libertadores clash against Internacional. Colombian fan Alejandro Lopera Zuluaga, aged 27, was fatally stabbed during a fight in Porto Alegre, as reported by Terra. The altercation took place in the Cidade Baixa neighborhood shortly after the Colombian side’s 3-0 loss at Beira-Rio Stadium.
According to eyewitnesses cited by RBS TV, the victim clashed with another Colombian supporter, who was also injured and taken to a hospital. Police believe this second man initiated the conflict, which escalated near popular bars where fans had gathered after the match.
The local police responded to two separate emergency calls within minutes. The first reported a man stabbed in the chest on República Street, who was quickly transported to a hospital by a ride-share service. The second call involved another man with leg wounds, later identified as the suspected aggressor.
Following the stabbing, the suspect reportedly fled into nearby businesses to avoid retaliation, but was assaulted and stabbed in turn by other bystanders. The Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) transported him to a hospital, and his condition remains unknown.
The Civil Police are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the precise circumstances and legal responsibilities in the violent altercation.
