Atlético Madrid hosted Borussia Dortmund in the Spanish capital. The teams played the first match of the ¼ final of the UEFA Champions League.

The home team played an exemplary first half, not letting the Bumblebees breathe on the pitch. From the first minutes, the representative of Madrid pressed their opponents very hard, and it bore fruit already in the 4th minute.

Kobel gave a pass to Matsen, and the latter lost the ball under pressure. As a result, De Paul opened the scoring.

Atlético continued to put pressure on their opponents and scored a second time in the 32nd minute through Lino. Griezmann provided the assist.

Borussia only started to get something going towards the end of the first half, when the visitors really troubled Oblak for the first time. In the second half of the game, the Yellow-Blacks attacked, but somehow inert and without much urgency.

Still, the Bumblebees scored one goal. The gap in the score was reduced by Haller. But the Germans were not enough for more.

As a result: a legitimate victory of the Madrid team with a score of 2:0. The return match in Dortmund will be played on 16 April.
