At Villarreal’s match, the Europa League anthem was played instead of the UEFA Champions League anthem

Villarreal hosted Copenhagen in a UEFA Champions League fixture, and before kick-off the home stadium witnessed an unusual and rather awkward scene.

Details: Before the match began, the stadium speakers played the UEFA Europa League anthem instead of the Champions League theme.

Reminder: Madrid fans are planning a grand welcome for the team as the players arrive at the stadium by bus. An electrifying atmosphere is expected both before kick-off and throughout the match.
