The 18-time Grand Slam champion suffers cancer recurrence
The 18-time Grand Slam champion and Hall of Famer, American tennis icon Chris Evert, has revealed that she is facing a recurrence of cancer.
"Since being diagnosed with cancer two years ago, I have been very open about my experience. I want to share updated information with all of you. My cancer has returned. I never wanted to hear that diagnosis again, but I'm lucky it was detected early. Last week, I underwent robotic surgery in the same pelvic area as before, and all cancer cells were removed. I am embarking on another round of chemotherapy," stated the legendary tennis player, as reported by ESPN.
It's worth noting that Evert was initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2021. The cancer was discovered after she underwent a preventative hysterectomy following the death of her sister, Jeanne. In January 2022, Chris Evert announced that she had successfully overcome the disease.
