At 85, Manchester United's beloved secretary Kath Phipps passes away
Kath Phipps, a true legend of Manchester United, has passed away at the age of 85. She had been with the club in various roles since the 1960s, earning the respect and admiration of everyone within the organization, as reported by The Sun.
Numerous current and former players have expressed their condolences following her death. Wayne Rooney called her the "heart and soul" of Manchester United, while Harry Maguire referred to her as a "legend."
"Kath was a one-woman institution, whose memory will be cherished by everyone at the club who had the privilege of knowing her. She said last year: “I can’t imagine doing anything else.” Well, we can’t imagine the place without her. Rest in peace, Kath," the club stated in an official tribute.
Kath began her work at Manchester United in 1968 when Sir Matt Busby was in charge of the team. In May 2022, she was awarded the Football Services Award. In 2023, the club honored Kath by publishing an article about her life and career, describing her as the heart of the club.
David Beckham, who had warm memories of Kath, also praised her in a Netflix documentary about his life, released last year.
