Aston Villa has finalized the name of the footballer who will be their first new signing this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Birmingham club has reached an agreement with Luton for the transfer of the experienced attacking midfielder Ross Barkley. The transfer fee is set at 5 million euros. Details of Barkley's contract with Aston Villa remain undisclosed.
It is known that the acquisition of Barkley was a personal request from Aston Villa's head coach, Unai Emery.
In the recently concluded Premier League season, Barkley played 32 matches, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists.
Before joining Luton, the 30-year-old attacking midfielder played for Chelsea, Everton, and Nice. In the 2020/21 season, Barkley had already played for Aston Villa on loan. Additionally, he has 33 caps and 6 goals for the England national team.
