After this, the Aston Martin team tries to protest the qualifying results… In the official statement from the race stewards, it is mentioned that the protest has been lodged in accordance with Article 39.6 of the Sporting Regulations. This article stipulates that if any car stops on the track during qualifying, it is not entitled to continue participation.

While the document does not specify a particular driver, it is evident that Carlos Sainz from Ferrari is implied. It was he who, after the incident during the second segment, caused the appearance of red flags on the track. However, after returning to the pits, he rejoined the track for the third segment. As a result, he secured seventh place in qualifying.

Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll took eleventh place in the Chinese Grand Prix qualifying session, and in the event of disqualification or at least the removal of all of Sainz's results from the second and third segments, Stroll could improve his position by one position.

It is worth noting that the second Aston Martin driver, Fernando Alonso, achieved the third-best result.

The hearings regarding Aston Martin's protest have commenced. After a decision is reached, the fate of Sainz's position and other drivers below him in the list during the start of the main race of the Chinese Grand Prix will be clear.
