Assane Diao sidelined for around three weeks

The Senegalese winger at Como is expected to be sidelined due to the injury he sustained in the Champions League against Feyenoord.

Medical tests have since confirmed the nature of the injury. According to Sky Sports, Assane Diao has suffered a muscle strain in his left flexor and is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks.

This injury brings the 21-year-old Senegalese player’s run of form to a halt, just as he was enjoying a key moment in his season. Against Feyenoord at De Kuip in Rotterdam in the Champions League, the left winger had opened the scoring for Como in the 18th minute.

But the evening quickly turned into a disappointment. Just five minutes after his goal, Diao had to be substituted due to injury in the 23rd minute, leaving his team without one of its key attacking weapons.

This season, Assane Diao has scored four goals and provided one assist for Como across all competitions.
