ASEC Mimosas secure their first win of the season in the Ivorian Ligue 1

After a sluggish start to the season, the Yellow and Blacks had reason to smile again on Sunday 1 November at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium.

The reigning champions had to wait until matchday five to secure their first league win of the season. Facing FC San Pedro at home, ASEC Mimosas got the job done with a 2-0 victory.

In front of their home crowd at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, the Mimos quickly took control of the match. Serge Gnahoré opened the scoring in the 14th minute, allowing his side to head into the break with a one-goal lead.

After the break, ASEC continued their efforts to put the game beyond doubt. Cédric Gobéhi doubled the lead in the 65th minute by scoring the home side’s second goal. This strike sealed the match’s outcome, with the score remaining unchanged until the final whistle.

This victory comes at just the right time for Julien Chevalier and his players. Having been knocked out in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, ASEC Mimosas are back on form on the domestic stage.

After a start to the league season marked by one defeat and two draws, the reigning champions have finally secured their first win of the season. This result could serve as a catalyst to truly kick-start their 2026–2027 campaign in the Ivorian Ligue 1.
